Sweden’s Cypak and New Jersey’s Meridian Health’s iMPak joint venture [TA 13 July] has launched a new NFC (near field communications) product, this time for tracking sleep patterns. SleepTrak consists of a credit-card sized device which is attached to an individual’s arm and which measures activity during sleep. The ‘card’ is then read the following morning with an NFC-enabled Nokia C7 phone. According to iMPak/Meridian Health’s Sandra Elliott, the intent is to develop it for other conditions such as diabetes and weight management. In the US though, widening the phones beyond Nokia is a must. NFC World article

This is fantastic – I wonder if it would discover sleep apnea sufferers; I presume so and are they available in the UK?
