The UK media yesterday (4 July) was all a-buzz with the report of the Commission on Funding of Care and Support Fairer Care Funding (aka ‘the Dilnot Report’. As required, its focus was on how that expensive phase of care in residential settings can be funded in a ‘fairer’ way in future by giving people more certainty about maximum costs, which should enable a market in insurance products to develop and, ultimately, for the cost of such care to fall across a broader section of the population and thereby reduce financial pressure and stress on people needing care and their families.
