…but tsk, tsk, they should be a lot more. So said presenters at the Institute for Health Technology Transformation Health IT Summit this past week in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. But what about reimbursement? The hands-on part of patient exams? While Claudia Tessier of the mHealth Initiative and Scott Simmons of the University of Miami’s telehealth initiative were able to find a way around various roadblocks, they are still wide and high for overworked doctors up to their ears in getting insurer payments from actual visits, wary of violating obscure state regulations, HIPAA security concerns and especially malpractice insurance liability (the last three not mentioned).
