What was being touted as the healthcare marketing trend of 2010–text messaging for ER (ED [A&E]) wait times [TA 3 Sept]–has morphed into making reservations, and not for dinner at Ta-boo. In dozens of US hospitals, you may go online first and reserve your arrival time to see how long you’ll wait. In the Palm Beach County area, five Tenet Healthcare hospitals let you reserve your time for a $10 fee, refundable if you are not seen within 15 minutes.  But the InQuickER system also offers a rough kind of triage, advance alerting staff to the most urgent conditions. Ed.
