A long, gushing piece in Singularity Hub about the Practice Fusion EHR (“What’s makes it different than [sic] its 300+ competitors? For starters, it’s web-based, 100% ad-supported, and absolutely free. It’s the fastest growing EHR community by a long shot, reaching 80,000 offices and 10 million 11 million patients”). Frankly, it reads like it was written for Practice Fusion by an advertising copywriter rather than put together by a journalist. Maybe it was, as Practice Fusion is listed as a source. No More Medical Record Hell – Startup Looks to Bring Doctors And Patients Into The Digital Age. In the end, it’s a question of whether patient-pressure will persuade doctors to adopt a particular electronic record. Heads-up thanks to Toni Bunting.

Hey there,
I work on Practice Fusion’s PR team and helped set up the interview with Jeremy and Ryan Howard. It’s certainly a glowing piece, but I think it more reflects a journalist who really “gets it” and recognizes a powerful and disruptive service. Typically anyone who take the time to look at us closely becomes a believer in the same way.

I am sure in PR terms a journalist who really “gets it” is a bonus … however, in this sector where management need hard facts to justify adopting these technologies and changing practices organisations might find more objective reporting beneficial?
Certainly if you look to exapnd outwith the USA a different approach will be needed.
I love the singularity hub! Check out this article on another free EHR with a focus on iPads.
