CMS proposes easing clinical staff credentialing for telemedicine (US)

Part of what has held back a wider use of telemedicine is hospital credentialing of clinical staff.  [For non-US readers, read ‘ability to treat across state boundaries’] Today CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) was scheduled to publish a proposed rule to permit a hospital to rely on a partner facility to furnish credentialing and privileging information on clinicians who provide telemedicine services. It would also permit a third-party organization to verify credentials.  Comments on Regulation.gov, file code for the rule is CMS-3227-P.  Healthcare IT News
