Scottish COPD telehealth RCT shows no significant difference

The initial output from the Telescot trial was published yesterday as a late abstract for the European Respiratory Society (ERS) congress on 3rd September. The conclusion, that telehealth as a single intervention on an already optimised management programme did not make a difference to the selected outcomes again raises the question, as with the WSD, as to whether RTCs are the appropriate form of study. Does adding telemonitoring to optimised management of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) reduce hospital admissions? Randomised controlled trial. Heads-up thanks to Charles Lowe.
