PatientPad check-in tablet secures $7.5 million funding round

Atlanta (Georgia)-based Digital Assent acquired $7.5 million in a second round of funding for expansion of its PatientPad digital patient check-in system. Much like older rival Phreesia, PatientPad automates the patient checkin process through a proprietary tablet used by the patient to register their information. The information then can be used in a practice EMR/EHR, or uploaded to the patient’s PHR (not Google Health, see below). The company claims it has sold almost 1,500 PatientPads to 175 practices in 25 states. Phreesia claims ‘thousands’. Is the market large enough for two competitors, especially as many practices are still all paper? PatientPad nabs $7.5 million in funding (Mobihealthnews); website
