Emerging tech in energy and healthcare

A report from the CA World 08 User Event in Las Vegas. Chris Stakutis, vice president of emerging technologies at CA (one of those large companies with a name that means nothing unless you know about them already) picks out managing data centre energy costs and telehealth as the two most significant technology trends. “CA believes that the sector needs to move from focusing on patients in hospitals to people ‘at the edge’ – those with illnesses who are not bedridden or hospitalised.”

There are some interesting snippets in this short read, including his observation that “There are more sensors coming online than we expected and it’s a mess” and that CA will be looking for company acquisitions in this field later. [My advice is to get a move on!] Read report. And, for further interest, Chris Stakutis’s profile on the CA website.
