American Well wins contract from the VA (US)

American Well’s virtual consult service, via two-way video, phone and secure text chat, has been chosen by the Veterans Administration (VA) to set up three ‘online practices’ for US service veterans. As of now these are relatively local ‘practices’ in Minnesota for behavioral health and Nebraska-Western Iowa for oncology and post-operative follow up, which will include home-based care. The VA is one of the largest users of telehealth and telemedicine (the US government as a whole is the largest); it is part of their ongoing effort to reach the far-flung group of military veterans in a more proactive, and also cost-effective, way. American Well had earlier won theĀ VA Innovation Initiative (VAi2) Industry Innovation Competition. Release.
