At ATA 2010: US Army and mCare

At the full day Saturday pre-meeting prior to ATA 2010, the US Army Medical Research and Materiel Command (USAMRMC) and the Telemedicine and Advanced Technology Research Center (TATRC) presented a full day on cell phone applications in healthcare, focusing on mCare, the project to help connect recuperating ‘Wounded Warriors’ to their care providers via cell phone messages.  It is currently up and running at five separate military medical care sites that serve soldiers (at home) in 26 states.  mCare was originally managed by the now-defunct AllOne Mobile [TA, 20 April] running on Diversinet’s security software.  Diversinet is continuing the program. Some of the findings….

mHealth Initiative sponsors nursing innovation award

The mHealth Initiative, in conjunction with Brandman University School of Nursing and Health Professions, on Wednesday announced the 2010 Awards for Nursing Innovation Using Mobile Technology in Clinical Practice. “We particularly want to recognize the adoption of mobile apps in nursing as this important component of healthcare is often overlooked,” said Claudia Tessier, President of mHealth Initiative.  Awards will be announced at the 2nd mHealth Conference in San Diego, CA, 8-9 September.  Release follows.
