Scanadu, a Silicon Valley startup (sort of, at the historic NAS Moffett Field, now a NASA facility), has an intriguing ‘single point’ sensor system in prototype that when held to the temple, can measure five points such as temperature, breathing, heart rate, pulse transit and oxygenation (pulse ox) onto a smartphone. Demonstrated at last week’s WIRED Health Conference: Living by Numbers, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Alan Greene’s premise was that temperature varies during the day and 98.6 degrees F. is not exactly the norm.
