$4.2 million fund for digital health in NY; less and more than it seems

If you are an early or growth-stage (interesting terminology there) company with a New York (city or state) “presence”, and with a technology that can support NY State Medicaid’s new emphasis on “health homes” (a fancy name for Medicaid managed health, see more below), this funding of up to $300,000 for each of 12 companies may be of interest to you. Announced this past week, the Digital Health Accelerator was organized by NY’s two Regional Extension Centers (RECs:  NY eHealth Collaborative for the state and the NYC Department of Health, both of which are involved with regional health information exchange–HIE) and the NYC Investment Fund. Funding it are the NYC Investment Fund plus a bevy of corporations including UnitedHealthGroup, Aetna and several venture capital funds. You’ll have to move fast: the deadline to apply is 1 June, and a NYC-based briefing on applying is 1 May.
