VA contracts for healthcare innovations in EHRs and mobile

The Department of Veterans Affairs has awarded a contract to enable providers to share elements of a patient’s electronic health record on mobile devices in addition to three other contracts under its latest VA Innovation Initiative (VAi2) competition. The VA’s goal is to use new technologies to improve the quality of veterans’ patient care. Companies mentioned are mVisum of Camden NJ (!) for review of cardiology data on mobile phones; Agilex of Chantilly VA connecting the VA’s Vista EHR to mobile devices; MedRed for software to share treatment strategies for traumatic brain injury; and Venture Gain with wearable sensors and software analytics to predict complications of heart failure.
