US Army medics transitioning to tablets?

The US Army is currently evaluating tablets–both iPad and Android–to replace heavy, aging and sand-magnet Motorola handhelds used by medics, who routinely schlep 80-100 lbs. of gear in the field. Approval may be as early as December, but considerations center around security (for internet access and stolen/lost units) and updating in the field. Federal Times.
