What makes telehealth (and telemedicine) work?

The Veterans Administration (VA) in the US has been a leader in using telehealth/telemedicine for remote diagnostics for at least two years (see website pages starting here).  This ZDNet article interviews the VA’s head of telehealth care coordination for the Rocky Mountain region who gives pointers on five factors that make telemedicine work:  EHRs, a network with sufficient bandwidth, easy to use digital video systems, a good system integrators and clinical staff in remote locations who can handle the tech and the patients.
