St Vincent de Paul study shows benefits of telecare to older people

In a newly-published report The Society of St Vincent de Paul finds loneliness to be the biggest individual problem faced by older people living alone in Ireland. The research on which the report is based was a qualitative exploration into the lives of a broad sample of older people and was carried out using a ‘robust methodology’. It found that monitored alarms are a ‘low-cost, high-value’ service that provides a considerable level of reassurance for people living alone who have telecare systems installed.
