NHS Bristol uses phones for telehealth (UK)

NHS Bristol is to roll out a new telehealth service to patients with long-term conditions. The PCT has signed a contract with technology company Safe Patient Systems for its Mobile Patient Care service. The £1.4m contract will be the largest deployment the company has yet undertaken and will see 600 patients with either chronic obstructive pulmonary disease or heart failure issued with smartphones loaded with a health application. “Using the data, [community nursing staff?] can start to plan their day and they will be able to make a judgement on whether to go and visit that patient or perhaps just make a reassuring phone call.” Report from E-Health Insider.
