Broadband access Federal grants (US)

Where’s all that US ‘stimulus’ (ARRA) money going other than roads, teachers and EHRs?  Well, some is going to telehealth and HIT projects. Sorting through the self-congratulatory language and endless acronyms, $482.4 million in grants were made through something called the Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP) to deploy affordable broadband in primarily rural areas. The announcement is part of the second round of BTOP grants which will be completed by 30 Sept.  Article (CMIO)
