More examples of ‘mHealth in low-resource settings’ (see previous item) is this AFP article on African mHealth: txtAlert reminders for patients at a Johannesberg HIV clinic reducing missed appointments from 15% to 4%; the MDNet phone network linking physicians in Ghana and Liberia with over 2.5 million free calls; and Voxiva’s TRACnet which tracks HIV data, sends reminders for reports to be filed, monitors drug stocks and delivers test results at clinics in Rwanda. (Voxiva was #3 on Fast Company’s 10 most innovative healthcare companies.)
