Hawaii-based Hoaloha Robotics and Robosoft, France, have put out a brief announcement that they have agreed to work together on the design of a “socially assistive robot” [i.e. play the Japanese at their own game. According to the Hoaloha Robotics website, Hoaloha is Hawaiian for “caring companion” and they believe that personal robots offer the opportunity to help enable and empower individuals who require assistive care.
