Health New England adds member app

Health New England, a managed care insurer in western Massachusetts, is adopting a HIPPA-compliant smartphone app which, according to the developers, is the first of its kind where HIPAA information can be accessed via a smartphone/tablet app in a secure cloud environment. Members will be able to access a provider directory, member ID application, and in situations where they need immediate information, they will be able to trigger directions from their current location, call a provider or access ID cards which give policy numbers, member numbers and co-pay and deductible amounts.
