Hanover Housing Group is known for its go-ahead approach to telecare, so why does this press release about thier award-winning development in Brighton not mention it? I asked Hanover’s Business Development Manager David Ward – and ex-member of the Telecare Policy Collaborative – for a comment. His interesting reply was:
“The Hanover Larchwood ExtraCare scheme is fully telecare enabled, as all Hanover ExtraCare schemes built since 2002 are; with a wireless overlay covering all areas of the scheme and connected to a telecare management unit in the office, which is shared by the Hanover estate manager and the care team.
Hanover is working with Brighton’s Telecare Project Officer to implement a telecare service into the scheme. The on-site care team is able to provide a rapid response to telecare alerts and the telecare overlay facilitates allow for a flexible allocation of ‘tailored’ packages of telecare equipment to users.
In some ways the award winning Larchwood ExtraCare scheme shows how far telecare implementation has come when this feature is no longer regarded as innovative and is not mentioned in the press releases. The provision of telecare infrastructure into ExtraCare has been mainstream in Hanover schemes for several years.”
Nice one, David!
