Alberta to improve stroke care through telemedicine links

Categories: Latest News.

Within the next year, all nine Alberta health regions will be equipped with primary stroke centres, which will consult with stroke specialists through telehealth links to the main stroke centres in Calgary and Edmonton. This program includes medical and neurological consultations for patients recovering from strokes, as well as physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech pathology and psychological support during rehabilitation. By linking dispersed Alberta regions with technology, this strategy expects to improve discharge and patient transfer protocols. News story
