World's smallest microscope now used for fertility testing

Aydogan Ozcan, the UCLA engineering professor and developer of the lens-free telemedicine imaging microscope profiled here on 21 May, has published research on a use for it:  viewing semen samples for male fertility testing outside of the typical lab environment needed for optical microscopes.  It can actually give a numerical count of sperm and the vitality of their movement.  Many uses envisioned:   fertility clinics, in personal male-fertility test kits and for veterinary medicine.  HealthCanal article.  Ozcan and colleagues’ research published in Analytical Chemistry, (registration and payment required)
