Last night (17 Nov) this editor [Donna] attended a presentation given by the MIT Enterprise Forum of NYC on emerging technologies in connected healthcare (more on that in a separate article). During the pre-presentation reception, a guest, seeing my Telecare Aware badge, wanted to show me a ‘super PERS… first one in the US’. The surprise was his when I identified it at once as the Aerotel GeoSkeeper–presented during Mobile Health Expo by Aerotel’s Ofer Atzmon [slide] On an admittedly chunky wristlet with very large vision-friendly buttons, it combines a two-way cell phone with three pre-set numbers and a panic button (orange). What is not seen is the GPS for geofencing, the accelerometer and the SMS/emails it will send to listed contacts.
