InMezzo and University of Kent develop biometric authentication services

Pointer to the (near) future: UK company InMezzo is working with the University of Kent to develop a user-friendly biometric authentication system for its SmartCare telecare network. In care environments traditional security means of gaining access to computers and networks such as passwords, smartcards and PIN numbers are impractical and can act as a disincentive. Thanks to a grant from the UK’s Technology Strategy Board they are researching pattern recognition methods to identify people from many biometric measures, including face and voice, as well as fingerprints, eye scans.
