Telemed cart saves $540,000 in 7 months (US)

A GlobalMedia mobile telemedicine cart in a rural Arizona hospital is calculated to have saved insurers and patients $540,000 between December and June 2010 according to a case study published by the company. A large chunk of the costs saved were due to not having to helicopter patients to the nearest large medical facility, but even so it does demonstrate clear cost benefits as well as reduced time away from home for many patients.
