First nationwide provision of support for high risk COPD patients in Germany

Bosch Healthcare, major insurer Techniker Krankenkasse and Robert-Bosch-Krankenhaus (a hospital supported by the Robert Bosch Foundation) have together launched a programme called Alltag mit Telemedizin erfolgreich meistern (A.T.e.m. – ‘Coping with everyday life with telehealth support’) for people with COPD. Approximately 100,000 COPD patients are currently registered with the Techniker Krankenkasse and the project is aiming to cover 300 very high-risk patients. Data from Bosch telehealth monitors will be sent to the hospital for evaluation and the person’s physician will be alerted if necessary. Press release for more information (PDF).
