Telepsychiatry in the emergency department

The California HealthCare Foundation has published a report, ‘Telepsychiatry in the Emergency Department’, examining seven ED telepsychiatry programs in terms of their operational structure, financial support and their challenges.  Telepsychiatry is actually one of the earliest uses of telemedicine, dating back to the 1950s, but is underrepresented in articles and conferences (example: one panel discussion at the jam-packed Connected Health Symposium.)   Summary on iHealthBeat.  PDF download of paper.
