United Health Group and Cisco initiative for national telehealth system (Washington Times)

The Washington (DC) Times devoted four pages of coverage this past Sunday on telemedicine (and telehealth), going back to a TV hookup in the 1960s between Logan Airport and Mass General.  It’s notable for mentioning (slog through to page 4) the new partnership between United Health Group, a top US insurer, and Cisco Systems to create the “first national telehealth system” to connect 600,000 physicians and 5000 hospitals nationwide.  As the CEO of the ATA pointed out, this is a first and a big validation.  Telemedicine allows for long-distance diagnoses
