Canada Report: 'Privacy by Design'

Ontario’s Information and Privacy Commissioner, Dr. Ann Kavoukian, recently released a joint paper on how privacy can be preserved in remote monitoring in the home.  Cited were telehealth, sensor technologies, medication assistance and social connectedness.  The paper examined only the first two in practical applications: GE QuietCare and Intel Health Guide, which received co-authorship credit.  Conclusion:  privacy safeguards can be designed into the technology as the default, which has been Dr. Kavoukian’s concept since the mid-1990s.  Release.
