Great Call, distributors of the Jitterbug senior-friendly cell phone, today announced their acquisition of a PERS company, MobiWatch.  Based in Waltham MA, MobiWatch developed a mobile PERS (M-PERS, add to our glossary) that uses a button and Bluetooth connectivity to connect to a cell phone, send an alert to a call center and track via GPS to locate the person.  MobiWatch had beta-tested last year with Sprint, but the release now positions it as being developed as a proprietary Jitterbug service available late 2010. Great Call has reportedly raised over US$78 million in VC funding.   Release (Reuters)  MobiWatch MassHighTech article 2008
