John Lovelock, a Gartner research VP, interviewed by Information Week on why chief information officers (CIOs) in healthcare are reluctant to move to mobile platforms: “These CIOs feel that the proliferation of the number of devices, the number of operating systems, and the security weaknesses inherent in all of them would overwhelm their IT departments so they are dragging their heels.” According to the article, Gartner is coaching healthcare CIOs on adoption and adjusting to the simple facts that there are going to be multiple devices, multiple operating systems and versions.  But the problems are real in regulatory compliance and security.  The Gartner report is titled The Top 9 Actions for the Healthcare Delivery Organization CIO, 2010Information Week interview.
