In a pre-Med-e-Tel press release, Intel’s Global Director of Health Industry Solutions Dr. Mark Blatt makes the case that the idea and the business of using electronic technology in health care has to move on from the US’s obsession with the problems of Electronic Medical Records (EMRs). Fair enough, but when he says “Three years ago, telecare was about EMRs…” we have to say “Hang on, when have EMRs ever been referred to as ‘telecare’?” Really, Dr Blatt, with his illustrious background ought to know better. Later the press release refers to ‘telehealth’, so let’s be charitable and put it down to a slip.
