Detroit hospitals adopt ER smartphone locator apps

Categories: Latest News.

In a city that’s had more than its share of hard times, some good news:  two major Detroit hospitals, the Henry Ford Health System and the Detroit Medical Center, are leading the way for the area in providing free apps (for iPhone and Android, plus BlackBerry for Henry Ford) that help locate an ER, list phone numbers and provide directions.  Other area hospitals are developing apps for EMS to route them to ‘open’ ERs and for doctors to quickly obtain other physician contacts.  Elsewhere in Michigan, Grand Rapids-based Spectrum Health System has released free apps that provide waiting times at urgent cares and let patients look up lab results, check appointments and determine if symptoms mean getting to a doctor, fast.  Detroit News
