Conference on doctor licensing portability for telemedicine

One vital question to the success of telemedicine is cross-state licensure of physicians.  A group from nine states, including Wisconsin and Minnesota, will meet in Madison WI this week to find a way to allow their doctors to practice across state lines legally, licensed and without relocating. The conference will led by WI’s Department of Regulation and Licensing and paid for by a $498,000, two-year federal grant (our taxpayer dollars at work).  It’s to “develop and deploy” an interstate licensing portability agreement.  It’s being staged here as WI and MN (adjacent states) already have eased cross-licensure requirements.  Wisconsin State Journal.
