Alcatel-Lucent trial of TeleHealth Manager in NZ

Alcatel-Lucent (ALU) has joined with Gen-i (telecom provider in NZ) and the Auckland District Health Board for a 20-person, three-month trial of their TeleHealth Manager (see 3 Nov post).  Those selected are heart disease patients from Auckland Hospital.  According to the ALU press release, it is the first remote patient monitoring test ever in NZ.  This video from ONE News interviews a patient named Fergus at home, taking his blood pressure and weight on the connected devices, and sending the data to the hospital on his mobile phone.  Best quote:  “I’d rather be home than in hospital.  Have you tried the food?”
