'Smart condo' will monitor and model older people (Canada)

Smart Planet reports that “Researchers at the University of Alberta in Canada are studying elderly patients as they live in an ‘independent living’ facility laden with sensors and other technology to track their daily activities. The point? To gather data that will hopefully help them better understand the needs of the rapidly growing senior citizen population and help them deploy resources and care in a more efficient fashion.” Editor Steve offers 10 to 1 that nothing of significance comes from studying people outside of their own home environment…well, to give but one example of people doing this previously, nothing came of similar monitoring by BT in Liverpool ten years ago – and that was in their own homes. ‘Smart condo’ will monitor, model the elderly.
