PwC: Asia-Pacific mHealth market at $7 billion by 2017

Ed. Donna isn’t surprised at the explosive CAGR (compound annual growth rate) of 70% either, given a rise in population wealth and connectedness–and facing two intractable problems: 1) a rapidly aging and 2) a dispersed population. China will dwarf all others in the mHealth market at $2.4 billion, nearly twice that of Japan and five times that of India. Usage though will differ, with monitoring leading in Japan (with 22% over 65) and remote diagnostics leading in India. ‘Mobile Health–Enabling Healthcare’ in conjunction with PwC, was announced by the GSMA at the Mobile Asia Congress in Hong Kong.
