Report: ICT enabled independent living for elderly (EU)

attempting to list developments in the field in each of the 27 EU member countries. It also has a remarkably extensive listing of relevant companies. However, it suffers from the world-wide lack of an agreed terminology. It appears that the report tends to use the terminology adopted by the manufacturer being referenced: ‘telecare’ in some places, ‘dispersed alarms’ in another, ‘call systems’ in two others and, possibly, ‘fall alarms’ – as a general term, rather than meaning ‘fall detectors’ in yet another. It is also oddly unbalanced in places. For example, Section 7.5 gives information on UK companies Tynetec and Chubb, but not Tunstall, which is relegated to the list of organisations at the end.
