Cross-sector collaboration is key to home-based healthcare

From time to time we see calls for the realisation of the potential benefits of cross-sector collaboration. In the UK this usually means health care, social care and housing providers and developers. Unfortunately, what is typically lacking is an indication of how to overcome the embedded cultural and legal, as well as technical, problems that such collaboration would require. A brief report of the Alvolution Modern Built Environment keeps up the tradition. (Alvolution?? See here.)

BUT there is a sign of a breach in one of the major barriers – information sharing between health and social services. According to a System C Healthcare press release “System C Healthcare, Microsoft, Orion Health and Liquidlogic have joined forces to produce the first health and social care link under NHS Connecting for Health’s new standards for systems integration.” (IT industry jargon warning.)
