US $6 billion broadband plan approved

The US Congress’s Energy and Commerce Committee approved a $6 billion broadband plan last week that will provide grants for companies to build out high-speed Internet networks. The plan is part of an $825 billion economic stimulus package unveiled last week by the House Appropriations Committee. As previously noted in Telecare Aware, telehealth systems are cited as one of the main drivers for getting more US homes broadband-enabled. Read more.
